Who we are
Founded by missionary Dr. Lester Sumrall (1913–1996) in 1987 to respond to God’s challenge, “That my church in the third world does not die of hunger before I return.”
Feed The Hungry has delivered more than £300 million of food and supplies to hungry, hurting people in 92 nations around the globe.
We also respond with emergency food and relief during disasters like the Japan tsunami, Haiti earthquake, Oklahoma tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, and Syrian crisis.

How we work
We follow Christ’s calling to fulfill the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people in crisis.
Through financial and prayer support like yours, we deliver food, supplies and biblical teaching using a pastor-to-pastor, church-to-church strategy.
What makes feed the hungry different?
- Feed The Hungry directly oversees the entire relief process to make sure your contributions get into the hands of those who need it most—when they need it most.
- Before distributing food, we secure guarantees from government agencies, giving us the right to distribute food directly through local churches who know the people—and the need—in their communities.
- Under our direction and leadership, food is distributed as intended. Even more importantly, Christ is shared with hurting people who need to hear of His love!
- Around the world, we regularly feed 400,000 children.
