We have an opportunity to bless others less fortunate than ourselves.
Throughout the Autumn of 2020, Feed The Hungry have had new clothes and dried food unexpectedly donated; enough resources to fill a 40’ shipping container. It was a surprise blessing for us and we want it to be a blessing to others.
This Christmas, we want to send this container of resources to Burkina Faso.
Burkina Faso is close to our hearts. Feed The Hungry has worked there since 2010 with our church partner, Victory International Ministries, headed up by Joseph Koomson. Under Pastor Koomson’s care are over 9,000 children and young people, many of whom have suffered through displacement as a result of conflict in the north of Burkina Faso. Children like Nathalie.
Nathalie attends one of the schools in Ouagadougou that receives food from Victory International. Her father is out of work and her mother is a seamstress, but the little money she earns is barely enough to live on.
“I was often sick”, explained Nathalie, “but since I have been eating the food, I am healthy; I am fit. My height has increased and my hair has grown well. We are very, very happy. I want God to bless those who send us food.”
Fati, a parent of one of the other students at Nathalie’s school said, “The food helps us a lot as we didn’t have food to eat at home; we were suffering for lack of food. I have twins with health problems but I’ve noticed a big improvement because of the vitamins they receive in the food.”
An Unexpected Blessing
Over the past few weeks, Feed The Hungry has had donations of pallets of brand new clothing, as well as the rice, lentils and soya that would usually be packed into food bags as part of meal packing events. Usually, there would be a cost to this food, but it has been generously given for free by one of our partners in Italy, Rise Against Hunger.
The food and clothing will be prepared in December and January. When the meals and resources are ready in early-2021, we’ll send everything off to Burkina Faso. All we need your help with is covering the costs of transporting the goods!
