Areas of Southern & Western Zambia are currently facing their worst drought since 1981. Crop production has plummeted and people are starving. The agriculture minister has said that their crop production has dropped to the lowest in a decade due to drought and pest outbreak.
Feed The Hungry UK is the biggest charity working there and we have received an urgent request for help from our Project Director, Tebuho, in Zambia:
“Things in the southern province of Zambia are getting worse and worse. 8 people, that we know of, have already died due to hunger. Requests from schools & hospitals are always on the increase, this is the time for us to help out people. Just last week we [Tebuho] have received more than 182 people at our office requesting for any help to see them have food”.
We want to provide aid, both for the short term with food parcels and for the longer term with boreholes and training in new farming techniques.
Your donation of just £8 would enable us to feed a mother and child for a month or a £48 donation would enable us to provide food to a family of 6 for a month.
