School resources

Every year, Feed The Hungry feeds over 400,000 children. And it’s not just food – the meals mean they get to school too.

When children in your school fundraise to support hungry children around the world, they learn about the impacts of poverty and the power of giving. It’s an amazing way to expand their understanding of the world. We believe your students are young and heroic!

For every £5 you raise, a child like Nkunda gets fed for one whole month.

How can my school help feed hungry people?

There is so much more to fundraising in schools than simply raising money. It’s an opportunity to expand the horizons of your students, helping them understand the larger world a bit more.

We have many resources to help you run an assembly at your school, from videos that explain what Feed The Hungry does to posters, assembly plans and even a music video from some children in Kenya! You can also get in touch with us – one of our team would love to run an assembly at your school.

Why not become part of our Million Meal Miracle? We’re looking for 200 schools to pack 5,000 meals each, funded by local businesses. All the meals will feed children through schools in Zambia.

Raise money to make a big impact

Alongside your assembly, run a fundraising event. Here are a few ideas from us.

A school with a heart for mission

St Margaret’s, a primary school in Stoke Golding, raised an amazing £1,200 – enough to drill two wells in Nepal. This has given communities in Nepal access to clean, safe drinking water, making a real difference in their lives.

The school’s heart for mission has been supported by Feed The Hungry’s schools team, who have delivered lessons and assemblies. Our partnership with them has been inspirational for the school students, as well as benefitting impoverished communities!

Take your fundraising further

It’s very easy to take simple event ideas and multiply their impact through a little extra work.

  1. Get the governors involved; spread the word in your local community.
  2. Write to local businesses and ask them to match your fundraising total.
  3. Ask local businesses to donate prizes for a raffle.
  4. Double your impact by getting students and parents to donate good condition unwanted clothes.
  5. Make it a week long fundraiser, with a few different events and activities every day.
  6. Set up your own Just Giving page to raise funds and send the final amount direct to us.
