Harvest season is upon us, and with it, an opportunity to make a tangible difference both locally and globally. At Feed The Hungry, we are excited to share an initiative campaign that bridges our work at home with a life-changing international project, entitled “Can + Coin”.

Schools and churches in Coventry are being encouraged to donate a food item to Coventry foodbank, along with a coin for Feed The Hungry’s work in Nepal.

While the food donations serve a crucial role in feeding hundreds of people each week in the UK, the coins are destined for a project that embodies our mission to provide hope and a future for the vulnerable children living in Farahadawa, a village close to the India border in the east of Nepal.

The money donated through this campaign will directly benefit the Innovative Academy, a mission school founded in 2018. Established by Pastor Ruben Rasaili. The school’s core mission is to provide an education to marginalised children who would otherwise have no access to learning. These are children from communities living in poverty, including those who are orphaned, disabled, or from backgrounds that historically face significant discrimination.

In its first year, the Innovative Academy offered free admission to nearly 500 children, giving them a chance at a brighter future through education. The school not only teaches but also nurtures, providing a safe and supportive Christian environment. It’s more than just a place of learning; it’s a place of hope for children who have been overlooked by society.

“Through this programme, we are feeding over 600 very very poor children and 45 orphans every day,” shared Pastor Ruben. “I just want to thank Feed The Hungry for running the Every Child, Every Day programme here in Nepal.”

He continues, “With this donation we will fix doors and windows in classrooms, and also fix [the] fans in each classroom. And also, we will buy stationery items and uniforms. This will help these poor children for the whole year.”
