Matthew 25:35 reminds us of a simple yet profound calling, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.” While “world mission” can often feel like something that happens far away, Feed The Hungry UK’s NOUR:SH food packs offers a tangible way for your congregation to engage in hands-on mission from within your own church building.

Why NOUR:SH food packing?

Feed The Hungry provides regular meals to over 645,000 children and young people worldwide every school day. By delivering these meals through schools, we’re ensuring that children are not only nourished but are also able to attend class and receive an education. This holistic approach helps break the cycle of poverty, equipping the next generation for a better future.

A NOUR:SH food packing event turns your church into a meal production line. Volunteers work together to mix, weigh, seal, and box rice-based meals, which contain essential vitamins, minerals, and proteins. These packs are a lifeline for those facing starvation.

An Experience for Every Generation

One of the most beautiful aspects of a NOUR:SH event is its inclusivity. It is truly an all-age experience, where four-year-olds can work alongside people in their 90s. The atmosphere is one of high energy and fellowship, creating a deep “human connection” -knowing that the very bag you are sealing will next be opened by a cook in a distant country to feed a hungry child. It is also a wonderful outreach tool, providing a practical way to invite your local community to join in a church activity.

New for 2026: ‘Pallet and Pack’

For experienced churches that prefer a more flexible, DIY approach, Feed The Hungry is trialling a new system called ‘Pallet and Pack’. This is aimed at Churches who are experienced in this type of meal packing, and are happy to run their own event.

With Pallet and Pack, a pallet containing all the equipment and ingredients is delivered directly to your church a few days before the event. No Feed The Hungry staff attend the event, but instead, you are provided with clear instructions for setting up, running the lines, and packing down. Once finished, the pallet is collected, and the meals and equipment are delivered back to Feed The Hungry.

By only sending the ingredients and equipment, and running the event yourself, the cost of the meal packing event can be significantly reduced.

Massive Impact

Each box of food packed contains 216 meals – roughly what a child needs for an entire school year. Hosting a food packing event is more than a charity project; it is an act of worship and a powerful statement of compassion.
