ONE AFTER ANOTHER
It can be overwhelming to watch the news and see floods, conflict, and famine unfolding across the globe. From our position of relative safety, these catastrophes can feel like a distant, unsolvable roar. Yet, as Christians, we aren’t called to look away in despair, but to look closer with compassion.
Psalm 23 says, “He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honour to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.” (NLT)
Our faith is built on the idea of relationship – with God and with each other. We serve a God who specialises in bringing beauty from ashes and hope from the ruins. By acting to bring relief to those suffering, we become part of that divine restoration. Whether through prayer, giving, or advocacy, our response is a tangible reflection of Christ’s love. Let’s not be paralysed by the scale of the need we see around us in the world today, but motivated by hope and empowered by the Holy Spirit to see restoration.
