Flash Flooding in Nepal

Nepal Flash Floods: Help us reach families who have lost everything

Please help Nepalese families affected by the flash flooding.

In the early hours of 26th August 2026, a glacier collapse triggered flash floods that tore through communities in northern Nepal. Our partner on the ground is already responding – and needs your help to reach more families.

A wall of water swept down the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers into the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, with entire settlements inundated in minutes. Roads, bridges, and homes were destroyed. The confirmed death toll has already passed 350, with hundreds more reported missing as rescue teams struggle to reach communities cut off by the destruction.

Our partner in Nepal, Pastor Ruben Rasaili, was on the ground hours after the flooding hit, walking through the mud and wreckage to find out what families need most.

“I saw thousands of houses swept away, and people crying for help. They don’t have food, they don’t have clothes, they don’t have a place to live,” Ruben told us, on his way back from visiting the flood region. “Even now, we are carrying some of the women who have lost their family members – we rescued them, and we’re taking them to Kathmandu to help them.”

Thousands of Nepalese Army personnel are on the ground supporting search and rescue efforts. Many of the families Ruben has met have lost their homes. Some have lost loved ones. Right now, they need the basics: food, clean water, and shelter – and Ruben is heading back out with supplies for as many as he can reach.

What we’ve already done

Feed The Hungry UK sent an immediate $5,000 (approx. £3,800) to support Ruben’s initial response on the ground.

What’s needed next

Working with local suppliers, Ruben has put together a plan to reach many of the affected families with:

THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT

  • £10 could provide a family with rice for a week
  • £20 could provide dahl, sugar and cooking oil for a family
  • £35 could provide a family with a full package of emergency food and clean water
  • £65 could provide an emergency tent for a family who has lost their home

Every gift, large or small, will go directly to help Ruben reach families in Nepal with the basics they need to survive the days and weeks ahead.

A regular monthly gift enables us to work with communities for the long-term, helping them move from survival to sustainability.
Thank you for your generosity. We really appreciate every donation made to help tackle the problem of hunger around the world.
