Life-Saving Relief for Turkana

FAMILIES FACING FOOD CRISIS IN NORTHERN KENYA

Families in Turkana, northern Kenya, are currently facing a devastating food crisis.

Following the failure of the rainy season, this area has been the driest since 1981. Livestock has perished and food markets are empty. For many children a daily meal is no longer a certainty but a miracle.

We received urgent notice of the crisis in early February. In response to this emergency, we are pleased to share that Feed The Hungry has already sent £4,500 to supply a lorry of food. Eleven tonnes of maize is currently making the difficult 500-mile journey from Nairobi to Lodwar, the largest town in northern Kenya, to provide 55,000 life-saving meals.

While this is a vital start, the need remains immense. Each maize meal costs just 8p to purchase and ship within Kenya; a donation of £8 can provide 100 meals to children facing food crisis.
