Coventry Foodbank
In the UK, Coventry Foodbank is our largest project, which in the year ending April 2023, distributed over 29,000 emergency food parcels. In recent months, we’ve faced a dual challenge as the need for the foodbank has increased while at the same time, donations of food and finance have decreased.
Warehouse, Bucharest
Members of the team from Bread of Life in Romania visited Feed The Hungry’s Coventry Warehouse in September with a view to developing stronger links and systems for the delivery of aid into Eastern Europe.
Ladies’ Volleyball, Kibera
The Soweto Academy Ladies Volleyball Team in Kibera, Nairobi, has had a run of wins throughout August, which led them to be second runners up in the Kenyan National High School Competitions. They will now go on to represent Kenya at the East Africa Competitions. The Soweto players are teenagers who have grown up in the Kibera slum; representing their country is an incredible feat.
Mission Bolivia, Santa Cruz
Isaac and Anali Butcher are continuing to build a rehabilitation centre for street children in Santa Cruz. After 18 months of construction, the structure of the building is in place and in the coming months, the roof will be erected. Isaac, Anali and a team of volunteers continue to do outreach on the streets every Friday, using food as a way of starting conversations.
Farming in Njanja
Following a training course with Foundations for Farming in June, The Joseph Foundation in Zimbabwe are developing a community farming project in Njanja. The project will teach agriculture and enable people living in Njanja to grow their own food to feed their families and to sell for income. Over the summer, land has been cleared to make space for the upcoming sowing season in November.
